Post Natal Yoga

After the arrival of your baby a great deal of patiences is required in regard to the recovery of your body. Some of us bounce back into shape and others never feel the same again. Whatever your constitution the gentle stretches and movements in postnatal yoga are right for you. They incorporate breathing and pelvic floor strengthening exercises to regain your core stability and aid the healing of the abdominal wall. In addition the time you take for yourself in your yoga practice enables you to release any stress or anxiety you may be experiencing with a newborn, hormone changes or simply adjusting to the new sleeping pattern! This precious time is for you to focus on your needs, whilst 98% of your attention is focused on the needs of your baby and family.

The usual period of time to wait after delivery is 6 weeks for a vaginal birth and 12 weeks for a cesarean birth. In either case you need to have permission from your health visitor before beginning excersice after delivery of your baby.

Currently Post natal Yoga is offered as part of the pregnancy yoga class. For details see the classes page
