FAQ's

Pregnancy Yoga

Q: How many weeks pregnant do I need to be to attend the pregnancy class?

A: "As soon as you feel comfortable. Most women wait until they are at least 12 weeks when sickness and tiredness lessens, but as Yoga is such a gentle form of movement it is safe throughout pregnancy. If you have experienced complications with your pregnancy or previous pregnancies please consult your doctor or midwife before attending a class."

Q: Do I have to have done Yoga before?

A: "No, the many adaptations in pregnancy yoga makes it very different from a usual adult class, so a clean slate can be an advantage!"

Q: Do I need special clothing or equipment?

A: "Simply wear loose comfortable clothing, layers are best so you don't get too warm. Class is done in bare feet, so no special foot wear required. You do need a non-slip mat, preferably a thin rubber yoga mat which can be bought for around £7-£10 in shops such as Boots, TKMaxx, Au Natural, as well as many online yoga suppliers. Also 2 small cushions and a blanket or shawl for relaxation."

Q: Can my partner join the class with me?

A: "Whilst we understand the importance of involving your partner in your activities during pregnancy, to respect the wishes of other women in the class, especially those with strict Religious observations, we cannot welcome men into the class. However if a female member of your family or birthing partner would like to attend that is fine!"

BabyYoga

Q: Is BabyYoga suitable for a premature baby?

A: "Definitely, the practice of BabyYoga can help the baby reach age appropriate development stages, i.e. holding their head, following you with their eyes. etc. And as a mother of a daughter born at 35 weeks I have first hand experience of the huge benefits both for the baby and for the premature parent!"

Q: Is BabyYoga suitable for a crawling baby?

A: "Unfortunately BabyYoga is designed for babies before they become mobile. Otherwise you spend the session become more and more frustrated chasing your crawling baby around the room! Not very relaxing. For info on Toddler Yoga and local classes go to www.birthlight.com."

Q: Are the classes suitable for babies with special needs?

A: "BabyYoga is very beneficial for special needs babies, however the specifics need to be considered before joining a class. So please contact us to discuss your needs."

Q: Can I bring my twins to a baby yoga session?

A: Yes, twins are welcome at the sessions. There will be additional cost, however the instructor can workwith one of the babies reducing the price. You are welcome to come with a second adult if you would like. Call to discuss options.
